The Brave One

Let’s face it, sexism has been around even before you and I were born. Movies, TV, Comics, Sports, and Society you name the aspect and there is sexism. Its unavoidable and a part of life as harsh as it sounds. I guess I should be somewhat happy since its not just Wonder Woman in comics anymore as I was looking at the female comic book characters I have around my desk at work the other day. But that is neither here nor there.

Months ago, I saw a preview of The Brave One with Jodie Foster. I was hesitant initially. Don’t ask I just was. For the longest time, I wondered if she still had it. It has been years since I saw a good movie from her. Well, as with every movie I watch I always saw the preview and it had me wanting to watch it. And I did watch it Friday after work after a crappy day. There was a line going into the theater and as the people from the earlier screening were coming out, all I was hearing was “good movie”. I was also talking to the person in front of me and he was like “maybe this will open a new genre of movies..”. So I went in and loved it from the beginning. A female who had the guy she love die while she was out for weeks after getting beat up by some jackasses. She gradually picks up the pieces by killing people who have done wrong from the guys in the subway to the dirty old man on the street. Here is a woman who practically could’ve died but picked up her pieces and kept it together one odd way or another.

This was the movie I was looking for the longest time. A female with power. No one in the movie expected the
“vigilante” to be a female but she was. She showed how strong willed she was. I want everyone to watch this movie. Shoot, I want to watch this movie again. Think I will soon.. (via All About Me)
